Eleanor Elliott is an artist currently residing in Richmond, VA. After completing her studies in Philosophy at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM and Annapolis, MD, Eleanor moved to Richmond on a whim. Returning to her roots as an artist, her work attempts to depict the relationship between man and nature by exploring five fundamental philosophical distinctions: one/many, same/different, before/after, rest/motion, and existent/nonexistent.
“Understanding how seemingly contradictory ideas coexist and therefore define the limits of time and space is crucial. I believe that finality is the essential element of fiction. It is the untruth of the story. In this untruth, you find the honesty of the work. It does not claim to be life itself, but rather a singular moment in an endless continuum. Fiction is honest about its inherent falsity. The truth is that life continues on, but stories allow us to enter the mysterious world of dreams and conclusions.”
